Navy SEALs Take Out Top Somalian Al-Qaeda Leader

Fox News had a breaking report last night (didn’t get around to posting until this morning) that US Navy SEALs of USSOCOM participated in a raid in Somalia that killed Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, one of the co-conspirators in the 2002 bombing of an Israeli-owned hotel in Mombasa, Kenya and a top leader of Al-Qaeda in Somalia. Nabhan was named a wanted person by the FBI in 2006 for his suspected role in the attacks in Mombasa.

AH-6 “Little Bird” helicopters carrying SEALs in an operation dubbed Celestial Balance attacked a vehicle carrying Nabhan that had been identified by intelligence personnel. When the bad guys see AH-6’s carrying the good guys, they should know the game is up.

Update 9/17 0800 PST: Seems that Nabhan was training the Somalis from Minnesota that disappeared into the Jihadi world.
